Day 1 - Friday, Nov 3
We catch an 8:00 o’clock flight from Dulles-Washington to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Leaving from Norfolk it would have cost us $300 more per person and multiple airlines and three to four stops. We flew direct to San Juan, then to Tortola, BVI. We had our bags when we got there unlike many others who were waiting on theirs.
We had booked our trip through Ed Hamilton brokers who set us up with Sunsail. From Beef Island Airport we catch a van to Sunsail and our boat, “Lady Lillian” is waiting on us. She is about a year old and beautiful. She had that new boat smell and was in showroom condition. Sunsail had even made the beds and lemon oiled the woodwork. Our groceries arrived from Bobby's Marketplace at 6:00 pm as ordered. They were very conscientious that everything was in order even though there were a few substitutions. We slept on her in the marina that night. A little hot but bearable. We had brought a 12 volt fan with us, but the boat had three, one in each berth and one in the main cabin, so we never used ours. We slept in the rear berth under the cockpit which was the size of a king-size bed, but the outside air did not circulate well. The fan made it very comfortable.
